The John Behling Quartet presents classic Brazilian and Latin jazz as part of the Tenth
Annual Chi-Town Jazz Festival. All proceeds benefit Chicago-area
hunger relief organizations.

The John Behling Quartet features some of Chicago’s finest jazz artists:

John Behling, guitar. John performs extensively as a soloist of jazz standards,
Brazilian guitar music, and classical repertoire, as well as in collaborations with the
likes of Jay McShann, Claude “Fiddler” Williams, James Naughton, Patti Page, and
award-winning jazz and Celtic fiddler Jeremy Kittel. He has performed for Presidents
Clinton and Obama and at venues including the Kennedy Center for the Arts.

Luiz Ewerling, percussion. Born in southern Brazil, Luiz has been behind a drum kit
since his sixth birthday. He carries his Brazilian mastery of rhythm everywhere,
influencing his music, dialogue, and even his outlook on life.

Geoffrey Lowe, bass. Geoffrey Lowe is an eclectic modern bassist who spent his
formative years in Colorado playing violin, guitar, piano and bass. Currently playing
and/or composing jazz, R&B, blues, rock, Brazilian and classical music.

Ana Munteanu, vocals. Ana draws heavily upon her native country Moldova’s
folkloric tradition and jazz. She feels at ease combining the pathos of Balkan
lyricism, the sensuality of the Latin music, the freedom of jazz, and feverish gypsy

Now in its tenth year, the Chi-Town Jazz Festival is a catalyst for raising awareness and
funding for agencies committed to Chicago-area hunger relief. In Illinois, one in seven
people are at risk of hunger and one in five children are food insecure.
